Please forget Christmas for a while and stop to think why any child should go hungry at any time of the year… The UK is the 7th richest country in the world yet some 350,000 people received three-days emergency food from foodbanks between April and September this year. Please sign this petition calling for a parliamentary debate. This really needs to be addressed…

As hypnotherapists, feeding back on minimal cues and such is what we do, teaching it to others should come as second nature…

Turning autism upside down: When symptoms are strengths.
A topic very close to my heart and some great news! Hypnosis is a wonderful tool and a very fitting choice for regulating the autonomous nervous system. In particular Ericksonian Hypnotherapy is very applicable here, however practitioners must be mindful of metaphors etc. Not for any other reason than to not break rapport.
Incidentally, for those who think that it’s all about “Asperger’s / Autistic spectrum people don’t get metaphors”, this isn’t always true, allow me to put it into perspective…
While recently chatting to someone who most would (if you go for labels) consider to be “high functioning Asperger’s” about metaphors and analogies and how they are perceived he replied; “Oh, I get what people are trying to say, I just know that (for instance) it isn’t really raining cats and dogs and the person saying it is a bit stupid, why not just say… it’s raining!”
Why the Make-A-Wish Foundation is awesome!
I don’t really like to use the word awesome as it no longer is, well… awesome! It’s overuse has really taken the power out of it, however here’s something that I do think is truly… Awesome!
The Make-A-Wish foundation and 11,000 volunteers (yes, that’s 11,000 volunteers!) got together to make Miles’ day. Miles is a 5 year old kid from San Francisco whose leukaemia is currently in remission.
I don’t know if it’s been a long day or maybe I’m over tired but I couldn’t read the whole of it without crying. It’s really worth a look if you need your faith in human nature restoring.

P.S. I’m not 5 anymore but even I’d like to do that!
Just like everything has its latest trends, therapy is no different. Mindfulness is en-vogue and has been for a few years, so much so that even the politicians have caught on to it. Still, it’s a good thing

I saw a post on my facebook feed today that deeply saddened me. I’m not going to go into what it was, or who posted it (though they are now blocked and deleted), however I thought I would share this: It’s really worth a read…
